MOOCs represent a big milestone in connection between technology and learning, however despite this, Marshall (2014) argues that one key aspect is missing; the ethical. Ethics is defined as doing good and avoiding harm in this article, and the lack of ethics is a concern, as ethics is a core characteristic to a profession. The ethical concerns are in this article divided academic, commercial and research.

Finally, Marshall (2014) outlines a set of heuristics for educators in order to take care of the ethical dimension of MOOCs, in nine steps.
